One of my favorite morning rituals
is when Coriel comes into my room when she wakes up. I’m usually still in bed
(gasp!), reading or writing or avoiding writing. She snuggles up to me and we
chat for a few minutes. I usually ask her if she had any silly dreams, and she tends
to make up some pretty delightful stuff (although she told me today that she
was definitely not making them up; they were her real dreams) (if this is the
case, she must always be hungry; 96 percent of her dreams involve eating). Here
are some from the past week.
“I had a dream about a person
eating a lamp. And an alien was eating the person. And the lamp was eating a
whale.” [Me: Wow, the lamp would have to be pretty big to eat a whale.] “No, it
was a baby whale. It was as big as your dresser.”
“I dreamed that you [Mom] were
eating yourself.” [Me: Why would I eat myself?] “Because you were made out of
hamburgers!”
After I wrote these up this morning,
she told me that she also dreamed that she was combing her eyebrows.
She has the best dreams.
